At Do Dance Academy we have classes to suit all ages from three years onwards so that all students’ personalities and needs are taken into consideration so that they can shine in their own way.

Jazz

Does your little one love to bop and dance around to all the new and current music on the radio. Well then jazz might just be for you. It is a fun, bouncy, energetic style of dance where you learn to jump, spin, kick and turn. Examinations offered in all levels through our CSTD Syllabus.

Tap

Does your little one love to make noise and create rhythms on anything they can get their hands on? Do they love the sound of drums? Would you like to make these sounds with your feet? Then tap dancing is the subject for you. We also offer examinations under the CSTD Syllabus in Tap.

Classical Ballet

Any dance teacher or professional dancer will tell you that Classical Ballet is the foundation of all dance! With examinations offered in the CSTD Syllabus, Classical Ballet is the style for all the little Prince and Princesses.

Contemporary

Contemporary is a fusion between classical ballet, jazz, yoga, pilates among many other styles. Contemporary is the most creative of the dance genres with a large variety of contrasting styles within contemporary itself. Our students study the CSTD Contemporary syllabus choreographed by the amazing Jason Winters.

Come Dance With Me

Are you after a fun and engaging way for your little one to start to learn dance. Then our Come Dance With Me Program is just for you. We use our innovative and dynamic curriculum to help our students explore dancing whilst having loads of fun.

We use fun and creative imaginative play and useful props to grow your child’s imagination while still learning the basics of dance.

Shining Star Program

For about as long as there has been music, people have loved to dance to it and it shouldn’t matter if you are able bodied or have any type of special needs, everyone should be able to experience the joys of dancing and performing.

Everyone faces challenges in life and the students in our program may face more than any kid should ever have too. But the purpose of our dance program is to help these students believe that they can accomplish anything that life wants to throw at them, whilst helping work on their confidence, strength, and mobility.

Musical Theatre

If you love to sing and act then musical theatre is the class for you. This is the class for you if you have an interest in singing or acting in a musical one day, or just love to portray different characters. With its fantastic teachers Do Dance Academy aims to be a place that feels like home to every student and family so that they can shine in their own way.

Miss Renee Rablin B.Bus, CSTD

Born in Brisbane, Renee started dancing under Commonwealth Society Of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD) when she was only 3 years old and now has over 20 years teaching experience. She has always loved to dance and teaching it has become so natural. Renee progressed through the grades as a student and has now achieved the following examinations:

  • Level 6 Jazz Award
  • Teachers Certificate in Tap
  • Teachers Certificate in Theatrical
  • Teachers Certificate in Classical
  • Teachers Diploma in Tap
  • Teachers Diploma in Theatrical

Renee is currently working towards finishing off her Classical Diploma and her Cert IV in Dance Teaching and Management. Renee loves teaching because of the rewards that you get, when you can make a child who is talented in their own way shine to be their best.

The dance school motto is “To Be a Star, Believe in Yourself” and Renee feels that if she can make the kids believe in themselves at dance and in life, then they really will be stars.

Miss Sarah O’Laughlin CSTD

Sarah has a great level of experience and passion for the art of dance and her dream in life is to inspire others. She loves being a role model to kids and thinks, that it is the most important thing in the world. She is always smiling and loves making everyone smile with her.

Her qualifications include a Diploma of Musical Theatre and a Diploma of Modern Jazz. Sarah is always continuing to expand her repertoire to include Hip Hop, Tap, Contemporary and Acrobatics.

Sarah has also proven herself to be a highly successful soloists and has had many performance jobs such as “George” in the Peppa Pig Show at the 2013 Ekka, in the Queen Street Parade and Pantomime and also choreographing for the Koi Boys at the 2016 Lord Mayors Christmas Carols.

Sarah is so excited to be part of our team for 2017 teaching Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Hip Hop and can’t wait to build new relationships with the kids and to grow old ones even further.

Meg has a natural gift for working with younger students, who all adore her. Meg’s goal in life is to pass on the values and beliefs that she has been taught to all the students she comes in contact with. Meg has a dream of becoming a dance choreographer and we all can’t wait to see her work up on the big stages in the future.

Meg is a successful soloist and group performer and is currently completing examinations in all facets of dance with exceptionally high marks. Meg completed her Level 6 Jazz Award in 2013 and completed her CSTD Tap Teacher Certificate with exceptionally high results in 2016. She is excited about gaining more qualifications in dance and helping her students to be stars!

Mrs Maree Rablin “Aunty Rabs”

At 10 years of age Aunty Rabs showed her mum a newspaper clipping for ballet lessons, she told her this is what she wanted to do and she has been dancing ever since. Aunty Rabs believes dance is a way of expressing yourself without having to say any words. Her greatest achievement is sharing her love of dance with her daughter Renee and watching her grow into the wonderful person she is today.
Aunty Rabs has completed the following examinations:

  • Classical Ballet – RAD Pre-Elementary
  • Tap – CSTD Senior Gold Star
  • Jazz – CSTD Level 5 Jazz

Aunty Rabs other interests include:

  • Costume design and making.
  • Dog training where she participates and holds an open license for the sport of Dances with Dogs. Aunty Rabs recently performed and won the DWD Intermediate section at the Brisbane Ekka. She has also judged the DWD several times at the Brisbane Ekka.

Aunty Rabs is excited to be back in the studio, meeting new parents and students and watching how our students (young and old) can do anything they set their minds too.
