Mrs Renee Thompson (Principal) B.Bus, CSTD

Brisbane-born Renee Thompson discovered her passion for dance at the age of three, training with the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (Comdance). Now with over 27 years of teaching experience, Renee has turned her love of dance into a lifelong career. Her journey from student to teacher saw her excel through rigorous examinations, achieving:

  • Level 6 Jazz Award
  • Teaching Certificates & Diplomas in Tap and Theatrical
  • Teaching Certificate in Classical Ballet
  • Acrobatics Arts Module 1 & 2 Certification

Outside the studio, Renee is a proud mum to two beautiful daughters, Adalyn and Lilyah. She’s also passionate about training her two dogs, who compete in Dog Obedience events, showing that her commitment to teaching extends beyond the dance floor!

Miss Meg Michalski (Assistant Principal) CSTD

Meg’s love for dance began at just three years old, and her passion has only grown stronger over the years. A proud member of Do Dance Academy since its inception more than two decades ago, Meg has spent the last 12 years shaping and inspiring the next generation of dancers. In 2020, she stepped into the role of Assistant Principal, a position where she thrives, sharing her expertise and enthusiasm with students and staff alike.

Known for her vibrant energy and natural rapport with young dancers, Meg is a favorite among students. Her mission is to instill the same values and love for dance that she learned in her own training. A talented soloist and ensemble performer, she has excelled in dance exams across all disciplines, earning:

  • Level 6 Jazz Award
  • Comdance Tap Teachers Certificate & Diploma
  • Acrobatics Arts Module 1 Certification (and currently completing Module 2)

As the eldest of five siblings, Meg is a natural nurturer. She’s also a passionate baker and can often be found dancing in her lounge room to Bruno Mars when she’s not at the studio.

Poppy’s dance journey began at just two years old, and her passion for performing has only grown since. A proud member of Do Dance Academy from the very beginning, Poppy has spent over 20 years immersed in the world of dance, first as a student and now as an inspiring teacher.

With outstanding results in examinations across Classical, Contemporary, Tap, Theatrical, and Jazz, Poppy has proven herself to be both a talented soloist and a dedicated group performer. In 2024, she achieved her Modern Jazz Teachers Certificate and is currently working towards her Modern Jazz Diploma to further refine her craft.

Poppy’s professional training includes a Diploma of Elite Performance (Contemporary) from Brent Street in Sydney (2022) and a Diploma of Musical Theatre from Conroy’s Dance Centre in Brisbane (2023). Her versatile skills and commitment make her an invaluable member of the Do Dance Academy team.

Jade has excelled in examinations across Classical, Contemporary, Tap, Theatrical, and Jazz, consistently achieving exceptional results. Her accomplishments include the Advanced Classical Major examination, the Modern Jazz Teachers Certificate, and the Modern Jazz Diploma. Looking ahead, Jade is excited to pursue her Classical Teachers Certificate in 2025.

Amy’s dance journey began at the age of two, and her dedication and passion have only grown since. With over 19 years as part of the Do Dance Academy team, Amy has found her true calling in teaching our Shining Stars Program. Her compassionate, patient, and positive teaching style creates a supportive environment where every student feels encouraged to have fun and achieve their goals, no matter how big or small.

As a seasoned performer, Amy has competed both as a soloist and as part of our eisteddfod team, even traveling internationally to represent Do Dance Academy. She has excelled in examinations across jazz, tap, classical, and contemporary, consistently earning outstanding results.

In 2021, Amy completed her University degree in Occupational Therapy, a qualification that complements her teaching approach beautifully. Her ability to connect with and inspire the Shining Stars students has made her an integral part of their growth and success. Amy’s mission is to pass on the values she has learned through dance, empowering her students to shine brightly both on and off the stage.

Abbey has excelled in Comdance examinations across Tap, Jazz, Classical, Contemporary, and Theatrical, earning exceptional marks. In 2023, she achieved her first Comdance Teachers Certificate in Tap and has since added Teachers Certificates in Contemporary and Musical Theatre to her accomplishments. She is currently working towards her Teachers Diploma in Tap, continuing her journey of growth and dedication.

A talented soloist and group performer, Abbey competes as part of our Open Eisteddfod team, achieving success at the National Level. Her hard work and commitment shine in every aspect of her dance career.

Alongside her passion for dance, Abbey is pursuing a dual degree in Law and Psychology, with aspirations to specialize in medical law. Her drive and determination make her an inspiring role model for her students.

Temika’s dance journey began at the age of three, and her passion for the art form has only grown stronger since. A valued member of the Do Dance Academy team for over a decade, Temika is a natural teacher who brings warmth, positivity, and encouragement to every class. Her dedication to upholding the studio’s values is evident in her teaching.

Temika has successfully completed various Comdance examinations in Classical and Tap, including her Comdance Intermediate Classical examination. She also holds a Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management and is excited to work toward her Teachers Certificate in Classical.

A seasoned performer, Temika has participated in several professional productions and has been a proud member of our Open Group Eisteddfod team, achieving success at the National Level. Her experience both on stage and in the classroom makes her an invaluable part of the teaching faculty.

For over 15 years, Talaya has called Do Dance Academy her home, growing from a passionate student to an inspiring teacher. With her natural ability to connect with students, Talaya fosters a warm and encouraging environment in every class. She finds immense joy in building lifelong relationships with her students and takes pride in seeing them thrive.

Talaya has achieved exceptional results in various Comdance examinations in Tap and Jazz and has been a standout group performer throughout her journey with the academy. She is currently preparing to sit for her Comdance Tapping Teachers Certificate, furthering her expertise and commitment to her craft.

She became a part of the Do Dance Academy team in 2016, where she quickly found her passion for performing. Her infectious energy and enthusiasm made her a natural fit for the stage, but it is her quiet dedication and thoughtful teaching style that truly shine in the studio.

Over the years, Joelene has beautifully transitioned from performer to teacher, bringing her deep love of dance to the next generation. She has developed a special knack for connecting with all of her students, but her natural ability to work with boys, in particular, has set her apart. Joelene has a unique way of fostering a sense of confidence and camaraderie among her male students, helping them feel both challenged and supported as they grow in their skills.

Joelene specializes in Acrobatics and Hip Hop. With her passion for both disciplines, she is eager to pass on her knowledge to dancers of all ages, helping them develop strength, flexibility, rhythm, and self-expression. Her calm, yet motivating presence in the studio ensures that her students feel safe to explore their potential while enjoying the process of learning.

Amanda has been an integral part of the Do Dance Academy family for over six years, first as a proud parent of two talented daughters who have been dancing with us. In 2024, Amanda took on the role of teacher and quickly became known for her fun, bubbly energy and her ability to inspire students in our Musical Theatre classes.

Her passion for both dance and musical theatre is evident in every lesson she teaches. Amanda has a natural talent for helping her students discover and refine their singing voices, creating a dynamic and encouraging environment where students feel supported as they grow in their vocal and performance abilities. She believes in the power of musical theatre to build confidence, teamwork, and self-expression, and she pours her heart into helping every student shine on stage.
